Q: How do I customize or select a profile?

To select a profile:

  1. Press Menu and scroll to “Settings”
  2. Press "Settings" and scroll to “Profiles”
  3. Press Select.
  4. Scroll to the profile you want to use, then press Select.
  5. Scroll to "Select", then press Select.

To customize a profile:

Press Menu and scroll to “Settings”.
Press"Settings" and scroll to “Profiles”.

  1. Press Select.
  2. Scroll to the profile you want to use, then press Select.
  3. Scroll to "Customize", then press Select.
  4. Use the scroll keys to display each of your customizing.
  5. Once you find the option you want to customize, press Select.

Q: How do I check the repair status of my Nokia phone?

To check the repair status of your Nokia phone, please visit the “Check Repair Status” page in the Support Centre. You will be required to enter your ESN (Electronic Serial Number) or IMEI (International Mobile Identification) number.

Q: How do I use my voice mail, and what is my voice mail password?

Voice mail is a service that is offered and managed by your service provider. Service providers have their own process for accessing voice mail. Since these processes vary by service provider, we recommend contacting your service provider for the exact steps, and to obtain or change your voice mail password. You may be able to reach your service provider by dialling *611 or 611 from your Nokia phone.

Q: How do I copy contacts from my phone to my SIM card, or my SIM card to my phone?

To copy contacts from your Nokia phone to your Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards’ memory (or from SIM card to phone):
i. At the Start screen, press Contacts or Names.
ii. Scroll to "Copy", then press Select.
iii. Scroll to "From phone to SIM card" or "From SIM card to phone" and press Select.
iv. Highlight "One by one" or "All".
v. If "One by one" is selected, you will highlight the name you wish to copy and press Copy.
vi. If "All" is selected, you will choose "Keep original?" to copy entries or "Move original?" to move entries.

Q: How do I know I am using a Nokia Original enhancement?

All Nokia Original Enhancements contain a Nokia Original Enhancements logo. Many aftermarket products will be marked "For use with Nokia phones", "Nokia Compatible" or "Made for Nokia Mobile Phones", these are not warranted by Nokia. Nokia does not recommend the use of aftermarket accessories as they may affect the performance and safety of your Nokia phone. Only Nokia Original Enhancements have been thoroughly tested by Nokia to be used with your Nokia phone.

Q: How do I download ring tones?


The ability to download ring tones is network dependent. As a result, the method for downloading ring tones will vary by service provider. Check the ringtones area or contact your service provider to determine what options they may have for offering you this service. You may be able to reach them by dialling 611 or *611 from your Nokia phone.

Q: What is my PIN or PUK code?

Your PIN (Personal Identity Number) and PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) codes are supplied with your SIM (Subbscriber Identity Module) card from your service provider. Please contact your service provider by dialing 611 or *611 from your Nokia phone to obtain your PIN and PUK codes. The PIN code is used to protect your phone and SIM card against unauthorized use. The PUK code is required to unblock a blocked PIN code.

Q: How do I obtain a user guide?


The Nokia phone user guides are available for download from the phone support area.
Please note that you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 3.0 or higher installed on your computer to do so.

To download your user guide, please follow these steps:

  1. Next, select the "Phones" link from the blue bar at the top of our home page.
  2. Scroll down and select your phone.
  3. You will then click on "Download Nokia User Guide (PDF)" located on the right side of the page.
  4. You should now be able to access your user guide. Please note that it may take a few minutes for it to load.

Q: How do I store pauses & waits?

To enter special characters (touch tone strings) into phone numbers on your Nokia phone:

  1. Enter the phone number that you want associated with a touch tone.
  2. Press * then select w or p where needed.
    **w (wait): When you dial this phone number, your phone first dials the number, and then waits (because of the w character) for you to press Send. When you press Send, the phone sends your touch tone.
    **p (pause): If you include a p character instead of a w, your phone pauses for 2.5 seconds and then automatically sends the touch tone.
  3. Enter the touch tone string.
  4. Store the number as you normally would.

Q: How do I remove Nokia PC Suite from the system tray on my computer?

To remove Nokia PC Suite:

  1. From the Windows task bar, select Start > Settings > Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Locate the Nokia PC Suite version you are removing and select it.
  4. Click the Change/Remove button.
  5. Click Remove from the Nokia PC Suite Setup window, then click Next.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  7. Restart your computer to complete the process.

Q: How do I connect my Nokia phone to a fax machine?

Nokia phones do not support RJ-11 connections. Mobile phones do not have a dial tone to have the fax machine recognize. In order to fax with a Nokia phone you would need to buy a third party faxing program that allows you to fax through your computer and will work with mobile technology.

Q: What is PC Suite?

Nokia produces a software application called PC Suite that is used to synchronize phone contacts, and other data, with Lotus Notes, Lotus Organizer, and Microsoft Outlook. Nokia does not have software to synchronize the phone directly with a PDA. However, if your PDA software can synchronize to one of the above referenced personal database managers, you can then synchronize your phone via PC Suite to the same database.

If you are using a GSM phone: The ability to use Call Restrictions and Call Forwarding is dependent upon your service provider, rather than a feature of the phone. Please contact your service provider for further assistance.

Q: Why does my phone display “SIM Card Registration Failed?”

The message "Failed SIM Card Registration or Activation" indicates that there is a network problem or that there is an issue with the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card itself. Please contact your service provider for assistance.

An SMS message is a text-based message sent or received on your mobile handset.

  • How much does it cost to send/receive an SMS?
    Messages to/from short code 77477 are standard rated. This means the cost of the sms is based on the standard carrier rate as per the users mobile payment plan.

  • What is a short code?
    A short code is a five or six-digit number used to address SMS messages. Nokia’s short code is 77477

  • What is a keyword?
    A keyword is an action identifier used in a SMS message sent to a short code

  • Who can see my mobile number?
    Your mobile number is kept confidential. It will not be used by anyone without your permission.

  • How do I opt out of this service?
    If you no longer wish to receive SMS messages from this service, text STOP to 77477.
